Chen Wong is the latest member to join the board at Fight 4 Change. Chen is currently Associate Director Corporate Social Responsibility for the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.
Chen began working for Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) in March, 2016. Prior to this he volunteered with Mercy Corp, supporting Syrian refugees in Jordan. In 2010 Chen managed Barclays’ flagship CSR Programme, Banking on Change, a savings-led microfinance partnership with charities CARE and Plan International in 11 countries in Africa, Asia and South America. By the time he left in 2014 the programme had reached out to over 600,000 people who lived on less than $2 a day, and developed innovative financial products and services that met their banking needs.
Chen has also worked for a mix of non-profits, CAFOD in West Darfur, Sudan, volunteering for 2 years in Nepal with VSO, and completed a MA in International Development Management. Chen’s aim is to build on the successful foundations of MUFG’s current CSR programme, and evolve the strategy to deliver more value and impact from the bank’s investment in the CSR.
“Chen’s expertise in implementing CSR initiatives will bring added value to Fight 4 Change with his connections and advice scoping Fight 4 Changes CSR strategy”. Rebecca Donnelly MBE CEO Fight 4 Change
When asked about his new appointment Chen said “It’s great to be a part of the Fight 4 Change board, the charity has developed some great programmes and there are some exciting opportunities ahead which I’m looking forward contributing my expertise to.”
